Museums

High Desert Museum
Bend

The High Desert Museum's 53,000-square-foot main building anchors a quarter-mile trail that winds along a tranquil stream and through aspens and ponderosa pines. Guests may walk this trail to reach 32,000 square feet of exhibits and animal habitats. Their indoor exhibits and living history program also show how the land and peoples of the High Desert have exacted and experienced significant changes throughout time.

Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory - Sunriver

Private, not-for-profit scientific and educational organization in Sunriver, Oregon. Services include interpretive exhibits, large scale public observatory, educational programs, botanical garden, and a nature trail. Their enthusiastic staff and volunteers provide a fun and thoughtful view of our natural environment.

Parks & Outdoor

Crater Lake National Park

Widely known for its intense blue color and spectacular views. During summer, visitors may navigate the Rim Drive around the lake, enjoy boat tours on the lake surface, stay in the historic Crater Lake Lodge, camp at Mazama Village, or hike some of the park's various trails including Mt. Scott at 8,929 ft. Although park facilities mostly close for this snowy season, visitors may view the lake during fair weather, enjoy cross-country skiing, and participate in weekend snowshoe hikes. Crane Prairie Reservoir

Located in the Cascade Mountains. With 24 miles of shoreline and one of the best rainbow trout lakes in the state. Fish exceed 10 pounds. Available species include rainbow trout, brook trout, kokanee salmon, largemouth bass, and whitefish. Fishing season runs from late April through October. Other Recreational opportunities include boating, camping, fishing, hunting and wildife viewing.

Deschutes & Ochoco National Forests
Crooked River National Grassland

Public lands extending about 100 miles along the east side of the Cascade Mountains crest and eastward into the Ochoco Mountains. The area is rich in human and natural history and radiate variety offering a multitude of diverse scenic and recreation opportunities. Alpine forests and lush meadows, sparkling lakes and scenic rivers, dense evergreen forests, and lava caves are contained within the spectacular snow capped volcanic peaks of the Cascade Mountain Range to the west and high desert to the east. Newberry National Volcanic Monument offers an up close and personal look at volcanoes and is home to the endangered pumice grape fern.

Mount Bachelor

One of the largest resorts in North America Skiers, Snowboarders and Nordic Skiers will find great conditions, big terrain and short lift lines. Minutes from Bend, Redmond, Sunriver and Sisters, Oregon.

Smith Rock State Park encompasses 651 acres on the Oregon high desert plateau which hovers around 3000 feet in elevation.The park and campground are open year-round. Hiking trails offer spectacular views of the surrounding area. There are over 1400 climbing routes in and around the park.

Professional plays and wonderful entertainment. Producing seven shows annually.

Central Oregon Symphony

A community-based orchestra, the success of which is grounded in the tremendous generosity of its members, who volunteer their time and talent for the love of orchestral music. The ensemble was formed in 1967 as a part of the expanding Central Oregon Community College Fine Arts Department. From modest beginnings the orchestra has grown to become a major player in the local fine arts scene.

Bend Elks Baseball Club

Good old-fashioned baseball can be found with the Bend Elks. Everything you love about baseball - Fierce competition, wooden bats, and beer. Games are played at the Vince Genna Stadium The stadium is known for its panoramic view of the Three Sisters and other adjacent Cascade Mountains.
