The
High Desert Museum's 53,000-square-foot main building
anchors a quarter-mile trail that winds along
a tranquil stream and through aspens and ponderosa
pines. Guests may walk this trail to reach 32,000
square feet of exhibits and animal habitats. Their
indoor exhibits and living history program also
show how the land and peoples of the High Desert
have exacted and experienced significant changes
throughout time.

of shoreline and one of the best rainbow trout
lakes in the state. Fish exceed 10 pounds. Available
species include rainbow trout, brook trout, kokanee
salmon, largemouth bass, and whitefish. Fishing
season runs from late April through October. Other
Recreational opportunities include boating, camping,
fishing, hunting and wildife viewing.

Rock State Park encompasses 651 acres on the Oregon
high desert plateau which hovers around 3000 feet
in elevation.The park and campground are open
year-round. Hiking trails offer spectacular views
of the surrounding area. There are over 1400 climbing
routes in and around the park.
A community-based orchestra, the success of which
is grounded in the tremendous generosity of its
members, who volunteer their time and talent for
the love of orchestral music. The ensemble was
formed in 1967 as a part of the expanding Central
Oregon Community College Fine Arts Department.
From modest beginnings the orchestra has grown
to become a major player in the local fine arts
scene.
